This book describes the current state-of-the-art methods of railway
timetabling, operations analysis and modelling, simulation and traffic
management in order to stimulate their broader application in practice
and to identify still existing research issues. It is directed to
academics, Master and PhD students, and professionals from the railway
industry, as well as from public authorities that tender and supervise
railway services in order to improve the attractiveness and efficiency
of train services for the public and the customers.
The 2nd edition, which was published under a slightly changed title, is a thorough revision with extended contents (100+ pages) to meet the current state-of-the-art.
